In order to meet these demands, many software companies have turned to third-party software which they can embed within their own applications in order to deliver added functionality.
By embedding, rather than developing from scratch, software vendors can reduce their time to market and keep their own resources focused on their core business. But embedding can mean a lot of things and, as we’ll see, if what’s being embedded is highly visible to the end user, such as dashboards and reports, the final result can end up looking either like a seamless value-add or a Frankenstein mash-up of dissimilar elements.
