Today, we are excited to launch Logi Vision, our brand new visual analytics application that enables everyday business professionals to explore their data, discover insights, and share those insights with others. Before I tell you more about Vision, I’d like to provide some background to explain why we decided to create this product.
Let me start by saying that all of us at Logi love being in the analytics business. We have the good fortune of serving customers of all shapes and sizes – from startups to the largest Global 2000 organizations, and everyone we speak with “gets” the value of data. We believe in the consumerization of analytics, and our vision is analytics everywhere, where everyone – from the C-suite to the factory floor – has access to the information they need. We want to help organizations become more informed, make better decisions, and ultimately, perform better.
With all the hype in our industry, we try to keep things simple and we have a very simple definition of analytics – extracting business value from data. While “big data” is currently all the rage, frankly, there is value in all types and sizes of data. However, while there is “potential” in data, the real power is in information and getting it to those who need it, when they need it.
Analytics has two basic components: data discovery and information distribution. Exploring data and discovering insights is just the first step. This value needs to be shared or distributed as information to all those who can benefit from it. Both components are essential to get maximum value from data. Information is power and we want everyone to have access to it.
For many years, Logi Analytics has focused on the information distribution side of the equation. Tens of thousands of users rely on our information platform, Logi Info, to provide access to key business information, typically in the form of highly interactive dashboards and reports viewed through a browser or embedded integrated into existing business applications.
But let’s get back to Logi Vision. There are many data analysis tools available with very sophisticated capabilities targeted at data scientists. Given our vision of analytics everywhere, we set out to create a product that made it possible for any business professional to explore data, not just hardcore analysts.
From a development standpoint, we focused on crafting an intuitive user experience, and we built in technology called “DataSmart” to make it easier for non-data professionals to work with data. Finally, we added sharing and collaboration capabilities to allow users to easily share insights with colleagues.
Logi Vision is built on a web architecture so it is easier to deploy and manage than popular desktop or client/server solutions, and it scales as you need it to. Finally, Logi Vision is integrated with Logi Info so users can explore data, discover insights and distribute them to large numbers of users.
