Lavendon Group Hits the Heights with Logi Analytics for Embedded Reporting and Analytics

Logi Analytics brings metrics, analysis and cost savings to Lavendon Group

McLean, Va. – September 2, 2014 – Logi Analytics, the analytics everywhere company, today announced that Lavendon Group, the market leader in the rental of powered aerial work platforms in Western Europe and the Gulf States, has selected its Logi Info business information platform to enhance and standardise reporting and analytics across the group, and eliminate the labour-intensive task of manipulating raw data.

Lavendon Group’s rental fleet of 20,000 machines enables people to work safely at height. The business has grown by acquisition and sales growth, which has resulted in a range of reporting methodologies, systems and processes being used throughout the organisation. Paul Hickling, head of commercial at Lavendon Group, is responsible for the Group’s data analytics and standardising the Group’s metrics and reporting across the regions while allowing for local variations.

Hickling explained the challenge: “We were using a variety of methods to manage our data, including Excel, Access, Aruba and Cognos. This meant that manipulating raw data from our various information sources was very labour-intensive and we could see that there was a cost saving to be made. We set about investigating the products that were available on the market. We needed a multi-currency system that could be delivered across a range of devices, including desktops, laptops and tablets – and when we looked at Logi Info it fitted perfectly, in fact it blew everything else out of the water.”

Lavendon Group had in-house development teams with database and data warehousing expertise but no previous experience with Logi Info. They put together a business case using Logi Info showing two suites of reports on machine status and sales very quickly. Hickling said: “The manpower savings demonstrated in the business case meant it was easy to get approval to purchase Logi Info from Logi Analytics as our front-end reporting tool. We then set about delivering the first Logi reports for the UK with Web-based reporting functionality. We have progressed quickly and are now about to launch a group-wide solution with just one URL so when a user logs in, the appropriate rights privileges will be granted. The senior management team will have access to reports from every country at the press of a button and I know that this is going to amaze them. The real beauty of Logi is that we now are able to retrieve data from all our systems, however and wherever the data is held. We are really delighted with Logi Info.”
