When your application features outdated or clunky analytics, it makes it hard to keep or upsell customers – not to mention the frequent ad-hoc requests that get hoisted onto your development team, distracting them from core product development.

That’s why many companies are planning to update their analytics solution this year.

For example, companies that rely on Crystal Reports are finding that it no longer provides the analytics capabilities that today’s sophisticated users demand.

Back in its heyday, Crystal Reports was known as a progressive solution for companies wanting to offer analytics. But over the years, as backlogs of IT requests continued to grow and companies kept iterating on their core products, Crystal Reports became antiquated.

“We really needed a [business intelligence] environment to distribute reports and give customers visibility into their data using the same access method for the applications, which is within the browser,” said Shane Edmonds, CTO, Motionsoft. “This is where we ran into the first major limitations with Crystal. They don’t have a great Web delivery model or a great single instance, multi-tenant model.”

Motionsoft is just one of many Logi customers that used to rely on Crystal Reports. According to them, Crystal Reports slowed their processes down: The clunky user experience was disappointing to product teams and end users alike.

“With Crystal Reports, users had to enter parameters, run the report, get static output, and then redo the entire process to get different output,” said Edmonds. “With Logi Analytics, you’re able to stay within the same screen to do that. We saw usage patterns start to change. Instead of people looking at and printing reports, they stay on the screen and refresh with different parameters to do analyses and find patterns in their data.”

Benefits of switching from Crystal Reports to Logi Analytics include:

  • Create and deploy faster to avoid missing critical product deadlines
  • Embed sophisticated analytics capabilities to future-proof your app
  • Grow and engage your user base for more upsell opportunities
